To the Jarvis Family – 

It wasn’t until recently that we heard about Lorraine’s passing.  It was very sad to hear and just as sad that we weren’t aware.

Our families had been friends for years.  First, through our parents’ friendship (Skip & Charlotte Ungrodt) and their business relationship.  Hugh and my Dad were partners from the early days.

As kids we would come to visit when they lived on Palmer Street in Plymouth.  Hugh & Lorraine were very involved in their community with many friends and acquaintances.  They loved Plymouth and many years later became influential in Jim & me deciding to make Plymouth our home, too.  

I was Lorraine’s hairdresser for over 30 years, even after Hugh’s passing and her move Brighton.  Their daughter Susan also came to me for her hair needs.  She occasionally babysat our kids and was very helpful to me when my Mother was ill from cancer.  I continued to do Susan’s hair during her illness and chemo treatments.  Lorraine continued to be strong; not easy since Susan was so young when she passed.  Lorraine kept her memory alive by keeping and caring for Susan’s dog, George.  Where ever Lorraine went, George went!

We also have had the experience and privilege of visiting up at her rustic ‘camp’ in Ishpeming in the summer.  She truly loved spending summers there; whether by herself or awaiting and anticipating visits from friends, kids and grandkids.

Eventually she began spending Michigan winters in Texas.  I usually awaited her return for the summer; do her hair and get caught up.  ….and then no more calls.  I thought of her many times and felt remiss in not trying to track her down and finding out how she was doing.

Lorraine was a classy, strong, independent woman that I respected very much.  My brother Tom and sister Sally send their love and condolences as well.  When we go back down life’s memory lanes it’s hard not to bump great moments spent with Lorraine and Hugh.

Dear family of Lorraine,
I do not have your direct contacts but knew that Lorraine  left Michigan for Texas to be near you.

I am a calabash cousin. Irene Bursley Poyas was my mother’s First Cousin and Lorraine was Irene’s younger First Cousin.


Lorraine and Hugh and Sue visited us on Cape Cod several times and stayed with us there at Tidelands Farm - our Cape Cod home.  We still do have a home there !


I first met Lorraine, that  I can clearly remember.  circa 1948. She & her mother, a grand lady indeed, spent A couple of nights at our family home in Lynnfield , Ma. As I firmly recall Lorraine had just finished her college studies in Foodsand Nutrition, etc.& was about to begin employment as a Dietitian.



10 years later I went to Cornell University to study to become a Dietitian! So, you see, what an inspiration  Lorraine was to me...at 8 years old.  I got my degree but ended up with a double major   In the HOTEL school at Cornell and at
Graduation was hired by Hilton International Hotels to open a luxury hotel in Hawaii. 


I was  here for a 3 years, but the meantime met & married my husband , André TATIBOUET. He developed a chain of some 35 hotels here in this state; sold the company in 1998. We now have a hotel consultancy and both of us work full time...and love it!!


I am the Genealogist in the family in all directions yours and ours; as we are a very small family keep in touch with everyone.  My 2019 Christmas  cards were lost, they arrived with Covid in March, so never got sent. Today, Lorraines 2020 came back undeliverable; I investigated where she was and sadly I found her obituary.


In spite of living in Hawaii we have always been on Cape Cod often; Lorraine attended so many parties and events. Our two children live on the East Coast / N. Carolina  &Cape Cod!  Our knowing your wonderful Lorraine might seem far fetched from Hawaii but I truly knew her quite well!

So sorry to find this online. I have fond memories of being with Sue at her parents home and at the condo in Jupiter. I thought Hugh and Lorraine were adoring of each other and I hoped for a marriage one day like theirs. 
She was a woman of class and humor and love. May she Rest In Peace and hold Sue close in her arms for me.
