

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lynn Overton Colquitt, who left us peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the age of 82. Lynn was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Lynn was born on November 17, 1941 to John and Evelyn Overton in Columbus, Georgia. Growing up in a military family, Lynn spent her childhood moving and seeing new places, which was something she cherished.
After Lynn graduated from high school in 1959, she went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee with a degree in History. After graduating, Lynn met her husband, James (Jim). They married on June 12th, 1965 and would have celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary next year. Lynn and Jim had 3 children; Leigh, Tracy, and Chris.
Lynn’s most prized accomplishments were being a mother and grandmother. Lynn was very involved in all the parent organizations at all her children’s schools and later her grandchildren’s schools. After her children went to college, she became a Teacher’s Assistant at Meyer Elementary School in Houston. She loved supporting all her grandkids at their sporting events and activities. Lynn enjoyed being involved in book club and playing bridge with all her friends. She also loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Colquitt and her daughter Leigh DeVore. She is survived by her two children: Tracy Whittaker, Chris Colquitt and their spouses Mike Whittaker, Carrie Colquitt; her grandchildren, Shelby DeVore, Haley DeVore Smith, Bryce Whittaker, Courtney Whittaker, Peyton Whittaker, Oscar Colquitt, and Oakley Colquitt; and her brothers Benson and John Overton.
A catered visitation for Lynn will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral service will occur Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
Lynn Overton Colquitt will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her dedication to her family and friends, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed ,but will live on in our hearts forever.
