July 4, 1937 – October 29, 2025
Margaret Joyce Hanigan, lovingly known as Peggy, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on July 4, 1937, in New York, Peggy lived a life filled with faith, love, and laughter. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years and the love of her life, Francis (“Frank”) Hanigan, as well as her younger sister, Patty.
Peggy is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. Family was always at the center of her life, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to their happiness and well-being.
A devout Catholic, Peggy’s faith was evident in her selflessness and desire to put others first. She was known for her warm, welcoming heart, her kind and generous spirit, and a wonderfully silly sense of humor that brightened every gathering. Her eyes shone like emeralds, her laughter was infectious, and her smile could light up any room.
Peggy also had a gift for making others feel loved and at home — often around her kitchen table, where her famous mashed potatoes were always served with a side of joy, and extra butter!
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will live on in all who were blessed to know her
