Margaret Ann Harrer was born in Evanston, IL to Frank and Josephine Harrer. Marge was the youngest of five children. She had one sister, Agnes Hannon (John), and (3) brothers, Frank (Flo), Bill (Kaye), Bob (Lillian) who have preceded her in death.
Marge graduated from Mallinckrodt Catholic High School at the age of 16. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator before becoming a flight attendant “stewardess” for American Airlines and moving to Detroit, MI. Marge was extremely proud to be a longtime active member of the KIWI Club (retired stewardesses) for many years.
While living in Detroit, she met John “Jack” Dalziel Davis. They were married on September 1, 1951, in Evanston. They began their married life in Indianapolis, IN where John began his career in food service with General Motors and later, Greyhound Food Mgt. They started their family and moved many times throughout the United States, (IN, OH, WI, CA, TN, & MI) retiring in 1990 to John’s hometown Big Rapids, MI.
They raised their family primarily in Whitewater, WI which became their true hometown as the children grew. Marge worked at Coburn’s, was a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, and taught CCD classes as well as being a great, very busy Mom.
John’s job took them to California where Marge worked in Student Affairs at the University of California Irvine for 10 years, which she truly enjoyed.
Several years after John’s passing in 1994, she met Charlie Prince, and they married in 1998. Marge and Charlie enjoyed living at Clear Lake and visiting Charlie’s children (Jim Prince & Terry Daly (Kevin) at Houghton Lake. Traveling to Alaska and spending their winters in Gulf Shores, AL were among their favorite times together. After Charlie’s passing, Marge eventually settled in Gulf Shores where she made many cherished friends, reconnected with people from Whitewater and Big Rapids, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was an active member in Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
Marge moved to The Woodlands, TX in March 2020 to be closer to her family. She made her home at The Village at The Woodlands Waterway.
Marge loved life. She always had that infectious, sassy smile! Her warmhearted, witty, humor endeared her to all who knew her. Marge loved to dance, travel and explore. We called her a gypsy and she never disagreed. 😊 She was a devout Catholic who found great comfort in her faith. She was a woman who touched many lives during her 95 years. Marge, Mom, Gram, GG………. will be forever remembered, loved and missed!
