Marion will forever be lovingly remembered as a "visionary." She was a compassionate and tireless advocate who fought for decades on behalf of survivors of domestic and sexual violence. For more than forty years, she advocated on both the national and state level for social reform, helping to develop innovative programs throughout Texas. She worked diligently to combat family violence, co-founding the Northwest Assistance Ministries' Family Violence Program, and later serving on the Montgomery County Women's Center's Board of Directors. Identifying an unmet need, and in true Marion style, she helped establish the Montgomery County Women's Center's supportive transitional housing program. Often described as a "short-term investment in a long-term strategy for independent living," the housing project opened its doors in 2009. Recognizing the power of education to break the cycle of violence, Marion co-founded a committee to establish scholarships for survivors and their children. She was a treasured member and officer of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Marion was also a dedicated woman of faith actively involved in her church and in the community. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she graciously touched.
As committed as she was to her work, she was even more dedicated to her family. She lit up the room with her smile and was a caring and loyal friend. To have known Marion is to have laughed with her. She was an inspiration to those who knew her and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, John; her parents, Herschel Dalton and Dorothy Mae (Hauck) Livingston; her infant son Jeffrey Wade Evans; and son John Scott Fischer.
She is survived by her son Robert (Jill) Evans; her grandchildren Chris Evans, Kylie Evans, Kathryn Evans, and Cassandra Farrar (Taylor); her brother Lee (Claudia) Livingston; her sister Penny (Kurt) Elliott, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
To celebrate Marion's life, a memorial service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at The Woodlands Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77380. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montgomery County Women's Center at 1401 Airport Road, Conroe, Texas 77301.
