Mark graduated from Southview High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Organizational Communication from The University of Akron. On September 21, 1985, he married Suzanne Thompson Spurlock, beginning a loving partnership that spanned more than 40 years.
Mark built a distinguished career in sales management within the specialty chemicals and minerals industries. Over more than four decades, he held leadership roles with companies including Azelis, Specialty Minerals, Inc., and C.P. Hall Company, among other respected industry organizations.
He had a deep passion for life and for the people around him. Mark especially loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling, studying history, creating in his workshop, cooking, hunting, fishing, lifelong learning, and serving others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Jean Spurlock and Homer Spurlock.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Suzanne Spurlock; his children, Stefanie Guzman (Jean), Andrew Spurlock (Amy), and Laura Watson (Adam); his brother, Ron Spurlock (Diana); and his sisters, Linda Clapp (Jerry) and Jane Hoholski (Ken). He was also the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Luke, Ian, Emilia, Matthew, Eliza, Lucy, and Jack.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, Grand Hall, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384, US, on March 20, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, Grand Hall, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384, US, on March 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will immediately follow from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. A Catered Reception will be held on site from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
