Martha C. Murphy

September 23, 1931-February 26, 2025

Martha C. Murphy, age 93, of Spring, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

She was born to James S. Covington and Ela K. Covington on September 23, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Texas.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and brothers James S. Covington, Jr. 1927-2010 and William Gayle Covington 1937-1951. She was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 61 years, Fletcher C. Murphy, Jr. 1927-2016.

Martha is survived by son Clay Murphy and wife Carol, granddaughter Cristen Kirksey and husband

Jason, great-grandchildren Matthew and Madelyn, grandson Kevin Murphy and wife Megan, and great-grandchildren Camryn and Garrett.

Martha is also survived by her daughter Margaret.

She will always be lovingly remembered as Mom and Grandmother. Her faith in God was

strong and unwavering. She never met anyone who was not her friend. Her gentle nature and humor hid the deceptively strong character and faith. If she ever disagreed with you, she let you know in a such calm, kind, and quiet manner that, by the time she finished, you were agreeing with her.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting

nothing.

Hebrews 13:5-6

have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may bold say,

The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

And finally, to paraphrase a famous general:

Let us not just mourn the passing of such women. Let us be thankful to Our Lord above, from

the bottom of our Souls, that such women lived, and that we were a part of their lives.

A visitation for Martha will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery to be followed by a burial from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
