OBITUARY

Marvin Keith Brasington

August 13, 1964 – October 24, 2023
Obituary of Marvin Keith Brasington
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery

Keith Brasington was born August 13, 1964 in Columbus, GA and passed away suddenly on October 24, 2023 in Houston, TX.

He was the son of Marvin Forrest Brasington and Shirley Jean Criddle Brasington and brother to Debbie Brasington Peterson and Reida Brasington.

In his early 20’s he began a career in the Truck Rental and Leasing business. He started with Ryder working at the rental counter in Columbus, GA and then transferred to Tampa where his talents and abilities became evident and the career he loved truly began. He worked for Ruan for a short time and then began his long career with Rollins Truck Leasing which eventually was purchased by Penske Truck Leasing. Through the years, Keith worked hard and was promoted to positions until he eventually became the Area Vice President and an Officer of the Company. Along the way he made many close friends through work that became family to him.

In the spring of 1987, Keith met Joy Clements and they were married in June of 1988 in Gibsonton, Florida. After that, the adventures began as Keith was transferred to different states for his career: Tampa, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Salt Lake City, Utah, the Bay Area of California, Birmingham, AL and finally to Texas where he spent the majority of his career. They had 35 years together full of joy and laughter. In June of 2023, they had the opportunity to go to Alaska, which had always been a dream for Keith.

Along the way, Keith and Joy welcomed their beautiful daughters Paige Victoria and Leah Grace. He loved his girls and provided a beautiful life full of opportunities for them. He was so proud of their achievements. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs. He and Paige shared the passion for Georgia football together and had many opportunities to cheer on the Bulldogs together, including a special trip for the 2007 Sugar Bowl. He and Leah shared a love for baseball and had the opportunity to go on a fishing trip last year, just the two of them. The joy he felt in being a dad was always apparent. He was a wonderful leader who took care of his girls, and he always knew what to do.

As a young child Keith was a member of Victory Heights Baptist Church where he came to know his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Keith had a quiet, strong faith in God. He didn’t preach his faith, he lived it. He always reminded us that God had a plan and he trusted that.

It is hard to condense his life into this short obituary. He was larger than life. He was serious one minute and a comedian the next. He had a special way of connecting with people and could see their potential. His legacy lives on through his family and all he instilled in us as well as the numerous work associates and friends he touched through the years.

Keith is preceded in death by his loving parents and sister Reida.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Joy Clements Brasington, Daughters Paige Victoria Brasington and Leah Grace Brasington. Sister Debbie Peterson (Ronald), step mother Ann (Scotty) McTavish, Nephews Jared Griffin and Jacob Griffin and their children. He had a wonderful childhood full of love with over 100 first cousins. Keith attended Columbus College.

A celebration of Keith’s life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM at The Woodlands Methodist Church in the Harvest Worship Center with a reception to follow in Asbury Hall. 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380.
