Meada Faye Ouzounian, daughter of Harold Guy Jones and Mary Grayson, returned to her heavenly home on April 7, 2024, in the love and care of her children. Born October 20, 1936, the eighth of nine children, Meada was the last surviving of her 8 Jones siblings. She spent much of her young life on her parents’ ranch outside of LaBarge, Wyoming.
Meada excelled academically, going to Girls State and winning an office there. She earned her BA degree in nursing from the University of Utah, where she met Moses Khoren Ouzounian, an Armenian immigrant from Aleppo, Syria. They married on August 8, 1958. Meada is survived by their ten children: Elizabeth (Dennis Allen), Shacke (Doug Rose), Armenay (Norman Merritt), Vania (Ronald Wilkinson), Sarah Sidhu, Khoren Ouzounian (Samara Nelson), Vartan Ouzounian, Zabel (Jermaine Carroll), Takouhie (Nathan Jensen) and Ishkhanoohie Clayton, and her roughly one hundred grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Meada had two children while also excelling in her college schooling. Upon graduating, the University of Utah asked her to pursue her MA in Psychiatric Nursing and was the only student who qualified for a full scholarship and stipend. It wasn't long before the University approached Meada about eventually become Dean of the program. Meada taught some classes, but realized her interests were elsewhere. The family moved to California.
Meada was actively engaged in her church, community and family. At the local public broadcast channel in California, she produced a competitive school quiz show, Winning Wisdom, which also highlighted the talents of local children. Her goal was to create scholarship opportunities for children and a funding opportunity for K12 schools. She took word processing courses when computers started to come into common use and also took numerous writing classes which culminated in Meada writing a 510 page Jones Family History that spanned the stories of three generations and took six years to compile.
The Ouzounian home was always open to Meada’s nieces and nephews to come for an extended stay or short visit. She also opened her home and heart to other strangers and friends who were struggling and in need of a sanctuary. Meada loved to sing and often put her children to bed with a lullaby or two. She encouraged all of her children to develop their talents as she continually strived to develop her own late into life. She never did become an old dog incapable of learning new tricks… until she got her first cell phone and video streaming/chat became a norm.
Meada’s spontaneity, love and humor will be missed.
A funeral will occur Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10303 Branch Crossing Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77382.
Serving as pallbearers are Khoren Ouzounian, Vartan Ouzounian, Dennis Allen, Doug Rose, Norm Merritt, Ron Wilkinson, Jermaine Carroll, Nate Jensen.
