I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Michael Gasper Oliveri, 60, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away on January 5, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 14, 1963. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Joe Oliveri, and his grandmother, Marion Tepedino. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Valerie; their beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Michelle; his mother Doris Oliveri (Ernie Cline); his sister, Lisa Mitchell; his brother, Joseph Oliveri (Denise); his niece and nephews (Connor, Samantha, and Chase); and numerous cousins, all of whom loved him very much.
Michael is our hero - he was the very best father, husband, and human we could have ever asked for. He lived a life of service beginning as a Boy Scout, then as a Tampa Police Officer, Federal Probation and Parole officer, US Army soldier, and CPS Special Investigator. Many knew him as “The Colonel” and a “tough guy” on the outside, but a total marshmallow on the inside, especially when it came to his girls. He did so many wonderful things for so many folks, without ever boasting or bragging; however, if he had a good game of golf, he’d let you know all the details!
Michael spent the last eighteen months fighting a valiant battle against leukemia. He endured so much, and while we are devastated he is not with us, we are thankful he is no longer in pain or suffering.
If you would like to do something special to honor his memory, please consider donating to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org), which supports veterans and their families; MD Anderson Cancer Center (mdanderson.org), whose team took impeccable care of him; donate blood to your local blood bank; play a good round of golf with friends; enjoy a slice of NY style pizza; or watch a football game and fuss at the TV over every bad call.
Thank you to all who loved Michael, prayed for him, supported him, and visited with him throughout this journey. We are forever grateful.
