Mrs. Minnie "Joyce" Vaughan

Joyce was born on February 19, 1934 in Groves, Texas, the only child of Arthur “Otto” Meinen and Minnie (Kunze) Meinen. Joyce attended Port Arthur High School and met the love of her life and husband of 59 years, Edward “Eugene” Vaughan, at a party at the skating rink in Orange, Texas in October, 1955. After a whirlwind courtship, they were married on June 8, 1956. Over the years, Joyce and Eugene were blessed with five children, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Joyce adored her children and grandchildren, especially on her favorite holiday, Christmas Eve, when she annually hosted a traditional meal for her family. Her homemade cornbread dressing, Watergate salad, deviled eggs, egg nog and Blueberry Cheese pie are family favorite recipes to this day. In addition to her family, square dancing was an activity that she and Eugene enjoyed for years. As members of the Hey Lollies dance club in Houston, Texas, they attended countless local and out-of-town dances, where they spent time with many close friends in their club.

Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory three devoted sons, Daniel Vaughan and wife Beth, Michael Vaughan and wife Joyce, David Vaughan and wife Rikki; two beautiful daughters, Linda Vaughan and husband Dillon, and Brenda Sherman; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and dear friends.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022 in the Grand Hall at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home located at 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Ken Neumann will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. Sidney Ginn, Ben Guerrero, Austin Sherman, Charles Vaughan, Danny Vaughan, and Jason Vaughan will serve as pallbearers.
