Mitch Hausman left this world to be with our Lord and Savior on October 23, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born on June 26, 1956, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to parents of the late Melvin and Helen Hausman. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother, and friend. Mitch graduated from Missouri Western State University in 1979 and was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, where he developed a love of business and adventure.
After college, Mitch built a long and successful career in the Wire Rope Industry alongside his high school sweetheart of 48 years, Peggy Becktell Hausman. Beginning his journey with Wire Rope Corporation in 1979, he successfully grew in the industry, eventually serving as President and CEO of Southwest Wire Rope Corporation, President and CEO of Teleflex Heavy Lift, President and CEO of Houston Wire & Cable, and then closing out his career with Delta Rigging and Tool as both President, COO, and CEO.
Mitch was active and affiliated with the Young Presidents Organization, World Presidents Organization, Association of Wire Rope Fabricators, DR&T Holdings, an Austin Venture Company, Local MUD #40, Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Boy Scouts of America, and numerous local charities. Even after retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit led to many successful business endeavors, some of them negotiated just days before his passing. He loved the industry and the bond of the long-time friends he made.
Mitch cherished time spent with family and friends, sharing a cigar and his favorite beverage, offering wisdom, reminiscing about good times, and talking about hopes for the future. And he did it all in his own unmistakable style: fishing shirt, shorts, flip-flops, and a cigar.
Mitch was a husband to Peggy, a father to Patrick and Nicholas, and a proud and remarkable grandfather to Scout, Oak, and Charlie. He also leaves behind his brothers, the late David and his wife Johanna, Dan and his wife Judy, Mark and his wife Jane, Doug and his wife Nancy, Scott and his wife Stacey, Toby and his wife Billi Jo, and his sister Lisa Grable and her husband Dan. Mitch also leaves behind countless family on Peggy’s side, nieces, nephews, and fantastic friends who he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, The Woodlands, Texas on Friday, November 13, 2026, with a Holy Rosary before mass at 9:30 a.m., a Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m., and followed by a private interment with family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Woodlands Country Club that evening at 4:30 p.m. till 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Mitch’s name. After all, no family should ever pay when a child is suffering from cancer. His hope was that all cancer will soon be a disease of the past.
Mitch would want to thank all who were instrumental in making life eventful. May he rest in peace and in the arms of the angels.
