Nancy was a graduate of Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas, and went on to attend the University of Mississippi, affectionately known as “Ole Miss.” After college, Nancy married Michael Oran James, beginning a life centered around family and love.
Nancy and Mike welcomed their first child, Leslie, in October 1962. When Mike entered the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, the family began a new chapter together. Their son, Michael, was born in May 1964.
When Mike passed away in 1983, Nancy moved her independent self to Austin to become a court reporter and then became a legal secretary until her retirement. She soon moved back to the Woodlands.
At a Bellaire High School Reunion, she became re-acquainted with her current husband, Kelly Weldon Morgan and she and Weldon married on February 26, 2011.
Nancy devoted her life to her family. She loved being a mother and treasured her children, Leslie and Michael, always doting on them and taking great pride in their lives. She attended many basketball games, football games and drill team competitions in support of her children. Her love for her family remained at the heart of who she was.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Leslie; Nancy’s husband, Kelly Weldon Morgan; and her two beloved grandchildren, Kelsi Parker and Trent Parker, who brought her great joy and happiness. She is also survived by her sister Diane Sheffield of Franklin, Tennessee.
Nancy will be remembered for her love of family, her devotion as a mother, and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at Forest Park - The Woodlands on Sunday, August 23 from 5 to 7. The funeral will also be at Forest Park - The Woodlands on Monday at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the funeral, the internment will be at Forest Park Lawndale 6900 Lawndale Street Houston, Tx 77023.
