Patricia Hodges

October 8, 1933 – October 25, 2025
Obituary of Patricia Hodges
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery

Patricia Ann Speck was born on October 8th, 1933 in Lamesa, Texas. She was born into the world at the height of the great depression, and she spent her early formative years under the shadow and challenges of World War II.

Patricia was the youngest of four children to parents Ina and Roy Speck. Their family owned a farm and a furniture store in town. Once the family completed construction, they permanently relocated to a newly built home on N. 4th Street. After graduating high school, Patricia attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. She was a cheerleader for the University and earned a degree in elementary education. At the University, she met George Alton Hodges – whom she later married in 1955.

Shortly after they were married, Alton was drafted into the United States Army. After completing basic training in Texas, Alton was transferred to Frankfurt, Germany. Patricia moved to Germany with him, and they welcomed their first child - daughter Georgia, in Frankfurt in 1958.

After Alton was discharged from military duty, the family moved back to Odessa, Texas where their 2nd daughter Lisa was born in 1961. Patricia continued her career teaching elementary school. The family subsequently moved to Houston, Texas where in 1965 their 3rd daughter Beverly was born, and their son Craig was born in 1967 – completing their family of six.

After many years of teaching, Patricia returned to school in pursuit of a Masters in Library and Information Science, which perfectly combined two of the things that she loved the most – children and books. After obtaining her Masters, Patricia became a beloved school librarian, and she continued to teach for more than 40 years before retiring.

After retirement Patricia and Alton moved to the Woodlands, Texas, where they immediately became an integral part of their local community. Patricia volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was heavily involved in her church, and dedicated her time to helping others. Besides serving those around her, Patricia’s only greater love was for her four children, six grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Patricia passed away peacefully at her home on October 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings Roy Speck, Peggy Millikan and Don Speck, and husband Alton.

Patricia is survived by daughter Georgia and her husband Peter Fleming, daughter Lisa and her husband Tad Cook, daughter Beverly and her husband Curtis Carsey, son Craig and his wife Stacy Hodges, granddaughter Kristina Thompson, granddaughter Katy and her husband Matt Fetty, granddaughter Kandace and her husband Eli Ray, granddaughter Hanna Hodges, grandson Connor Hodges, grandson Jason Oquendo and great granddaughter Evelyn Fetty.

Patricia was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family, Jesus Christ, and our country. She was cherished by so many - but especially her family. The legacy of her deep love, kindness, selflessness and faith live on in those who survive her. While she will be greatly missed, we know she is rejoicing with the Lord in Heaven, and we all look forward to being with her again.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on November 12, 2025 at Woodlands Church, 1 Fellowship Drive in the Chapel in The Woods. A reception will follow the service at the Windsor Hills Community Center at 1 East Windsor Hills Circle
