Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, August 6, 1939, to Marvin and Ann Johnson, Patricia attended Ben Davis High School. Shortly after, she moved to Houston and started a family with her then husband Larry Pate. Many years later she married L.C. Loper, a respected Houston Engineer, on December 27, 1974. With him, she pursued her dreams of business ownership, beginning with Phase III Personnel and Temporary Services in 1976 and in 1997 opened the doors to PeopleSource, Incorporated. During this time she received many awards recognizing her business skills including 1992-93 Who’s Who Worldwide register, 1999-2000 Who’s Who National register, 1975 NATS Houston Chapter for dedicated service as Treasurer and a 2002 publishing in the Business Journal for one of the top 25 Placement Firms.
After losing her husband to cancer in 1986, she spent her time focused on her family and her company, and in 1988, she became a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as a volunteer to the Breeder Greeter Committee. During this time she met Bob Bell from Bronte, Texas. They were married on February 14, 1994. They dedicated most of their spare time to the love of snow skiing and the Breeder Greeter Committee, where they became Lifetime Members.
Later they retired to Coldspring, Texas to live a quiet life together by the lake where they enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles and hanging out with their shi-tzu, Gizmo. After being widowed again in 2009, Pat “Honey” moved to Conroe, Texas to be closer to family for the remainder of her life.
Patricia is survived by her children Sheryl Shelton, Larry Pate, Denise Humble, step daughter Wendi Bell and step son Wade Bell. She is further survived by her brothers Robert Johnson and his wife Dianne, Johnnie Johnson and sister, Judy Patton, grandchildren Rachael Shelton-Crider, Katrina Shelton, Larry Humble, Heather Humble, Cory Pate and Ethan Pate and great grandchildren Damian Humble, Logan Crider and Preston Connor.
