Patricia G. Sutphen, age 82, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2015. She died of end stage COPD. She was born in Orono, Maine in 1932 and married Peter M. Sutphen in East Orange, New Jersey in 1954. Together, they resided in New Jersey, West Virginia, California, and Texas. She was the best friend, partner, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could ask for. She was smart, loyal, loving, straight-talking, pragmatic, and courageous. Her family was everything to her. We were blessed to have her in our lives and we will miss our Nana’s love, quick wit, and sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Peter M. Sutphen, her four children, James A. Sutphen, Richard P. Sutphen, Catherine E. Sutphen, and Carole S. Backer. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held for immediate family at Forest Park The Woodlands in The Woodlands, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Patricia’s name to the American Lung Association, or any charity of your choice.
