

Patrick “Pat” Andrew Darnell Sr., of Houston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on February 16, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to William E. and Edna Ruth Darnell.
In 1961, Pat proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, shortly before marrying Marjorie Dean in 1962. During his six years of service, he traveled throughout the United States and the Philippines, working as an airplane mechanic on B-52 Bombers and F-4 Fighter Jets until 1967.
Following his military service, Pat pursued his passion for automobiles while working for Jim Sanders Ford in Houston. In 1971, he began a long and fulfilling career with the Southern Pacific Railroad. Starting as a switchman on the night shift, Pat’s strong work ethic and leadership earned him a promotion to Yard Master at Englewood Yard, where he remained until his retirement in 2003.
In 1985 Pat married Donna Deforest Darnell, and together they shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2019. During retirement, Pat enjoyed life to the fullest—taking trips to the casino, playing his favorite video poker, spending countless hours with family by the pool, and savoring the simple joys of each day.
Pat had a deep love for dogs and always had a faithful companion by his side. He also loved the open road and could often be found riding his Harley-Davidson, embracing the freedom and adventure that came with every ride.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Edna Ruth Darnell; his siblings, Betsy Sellman, Mary McCarble, Ethel Foeh, William Darnell Sr., and Lawrence Darnell; and his wife, Donna Deforest Darnell.
He is survived by his children, Pat (Melissa) Darnell Jr, Gene (Carla) Darnell, and Tracie (Daniel) Resendez; his grandchildren, Brandon Darnell, Abigale Darnell, Cooper (Brooke) Darnell, Robbie Darnell Jr, Carlie Darnell, Cadie Darnell, Madeleine (Derek) Daniels, Victoria Resendez, Christianna Resendez, and Gabrielle Resendez; and great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Darnell and June Daniels.
Pat will be remembered for his devotion to family, his unwavering work ethic, his love of dogs and motorcycles, and his joyful spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service was held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery in the Grand Hall, located at 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas, 77384, United States. The service was scheduled for November 19, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A burial took place at Houston National Cemetery,10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, on December 3, 2025 at 10:15 am.
