Patsy Hines (Pat) Porter entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the age of 79. She was born February 5, 1931 in Ft. Worth, Texas. The fifth child of Vera Oretha and Jefferson Davis Hines, Patsy Lou delighted in being “baby sister” to brothers Kennon D. Hines, Bob R. Hines, and E. Gene Hines; and sister, Claudine Hines Hawkins.
Preceding Pat in death were her parents and siblings; husband Robert H. (Bob) Ward, husband Buck E. Porter, grandson John Marsh II and granddaughter Brittany Young. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Deborah & Bill Stanford; step-daughters and spouses: Donna & Jack Young, Janice & John Ed Marsh, Susan Binford, Dianne Porter & Gary Welch, Stacey & John Isgitt, Tina & Johnny Schultea, Charlotte & Jerry Davis, Linda & Paul Ballenger, and Kay Porter & Patrick Harvey; brother-in-law Earl L. Hawkins; life-long friend Norma Schulze Glover; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pat graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Ft. Worth in 1949. She worked most of her life as a secretary, bookkeeper and office manager, and retired from Koch Industries in 1993. Pat was most at home in Texas, living in Ft. Worth, Grand Prairie, Bryan-College Station, Caldwell and Calvert; but also loved the years she spent in Saguache, Colorado and Billings, Montana.
Pat lived life to the fullest. She gave fully of herself to her family and friends, and all who entered her home were welcomed with a hug and a smile. Pat enjoyed playing “42” and bingo with her friends. She never met a carton of ice cream or a piece of chocolate she did not like, and always had a gleam in her eye and a smile on her face when she saw a precious child. Most of all, Pat loved the Lord, and did His work by helping others and volunteering in her church and community. She was a good and faithful servant, and those who knew and loved her will miss her deeply.
Pat’s family expresses their deepest gratitude to our angel, Jackie Pacheco, and to Maria Lopez, Kristine Pacheco, Grace Epitome, Sheila Okoth, John Garcia, Amber Harrison, Dr. Duyen Tran, Rebecca Carson, Marimel Vice and Jessica Bansuelo for treating Miss Patsy like family and providing her with loving care for more than two years. Additionally, our heartfelt thanks to Station 3 and The Woodlands Healthcare Center; Compassionate Care Hospice; Katy Couch, Lauren Scott Canady, Rev. Cliff Ritter and the Shepherd Care volunteers of The Woodlands United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Celebration will be held in The Robb Chapel of The Woodlands United Methodist Church, on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 am.
