Paula Jean Stanford, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, left our world far too soon on January 19, 2026, in Jersey Village, Texas. Born on August 27, 1946, in Houston, Texas, Paula’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and dedication. She was a planner by nature, soft spoken, loyal, and dedicated, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. She was also a lifelong Christian and devoted to the Methodist Church.
Having pursued her education at Stephen F. Austin, Paula devoted her career to nurturing children through her roles in childcare at Jersey Village Baptist Church and The Met Baptist Church. Her caring spirit extended beyond the classroom; she embodied a warmth that made every child feel valued and loved.
Paula cherished the moments spent with her family, especially during the holidays. One of her favorite memories was when Santa would visit her home to deliver early presents to her grandchildren, a tradition that she loved deeply. She took great joy in decorating Christmas cookies with her family, a tradition she lovingly continued with her grandchildren, Kaylee, Madeline, and Caleb McCauley. These sweet instances of togetherness are what Paula treasured most.
Travel was another passion for Paula. She delighted in adventures with family and friends, with a fond memory of a trip to Hawaii for her son Brett’s senior trip, where she marveled at the vibrant flowers that adorned the island’s landscape. Whether it was organizing events or helping others straighten their spaces, her unyielding desire to lend a hand defined her interactions, and her membership in the Norchester Garden Club showcased her love for gardening. Paula was the wife of a volunteer Jersey Village fire fighter. She was also active in the Jersey Village Senior Group, the Lakewood Methodist Sunday School, Grace Women’s Circle, Jersey Village Women’s Group, and she loved playing Bunco with her local Bunco group.
Paula's love extended to her family, where she was more than a mother; she was a pillar of strength and a wellspring of affection. She is survived by her devoted son, Brett Stanford, and her loving daughter, Lisa McCauley and Lisa’s husband Brian McCauley. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Kaylee, Madeline, and Caleb who carry forward her spirit of kindness and creativity. She also leaves behind her sibling, Kent Hale with wife Cam Hale, plus their children Keith and Casey with wife Rachel.
Preceding her in death is her beloved husband, Howard Stanford, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. Paula was also preceded by her parents, James Eugene Hale and Lareine Philion Hale, who instilled in her the values she held close throughout her life.
Paula Jean Stanford’s impact on the lives she touched cannot be overstated. Her gentle nature, paired with her unwavering love for her family and community, will forever be remembered. In honoring her life, we find comfort in the myriad of memories she gifted us, each one a testament to the beautiful soul she was.A visitation to celebrate Paula’s remarkable life will take place on February 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
