Dr. Arcuri passed peacefully at Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe, Texas on February 22, 2011. Dr. Arcuri was born on March 21, 1917, in Mt. Vernon, New York, where he attended local schools. At the age of sixteen, Dr. Arcuri began his pre med studies at Amherst College and upon graduation attended New York University School of Medicine. During his residency requirements at New Rochelle Hospital, he met his future bride, Patricia (Mary) Overberger. They wed on January 15, 1943. During World War II, Dr. Arcuri served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, as a Captain, and was stationed in Europe. After being Honorably Discharged from the service on June 1, 1946, Dr. Arcuri and Pat moved to Cresson, Pennsylvania where he was a General Practitioner. Although they enjoyed the rural living in Pennsylvania, Ray and Pat's roots were in Westchester, so in 1950 they moved to Pelham, New York. Dr. Arcuri took a residency in Anesthesiology, at Bronx Veteran's Hospital and practiced at Mt. Vernon Hospital in that capacity for 34 years. Dr. Arcuri retired and moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and recently relocated to Conroe, Texas where the winters are mild. Ray enjoyed ham radio and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, and five children: Raynold A. Arcuri Jr. of Earlton, NY (wife Carolyn), Suzanne M. Larkin of The Woodlands, TX (husband Brian), Dr. John A. Arcuri of Marion, MA (wife Nancy), Ellen Arcuri of Cicero of Bethel, CT (husband Joseph), and Paul A. Arcuri of South Pasadena, CA. Dr. Arcrui is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Friday, March 4, 2011 with a Rosary/Vigil Service at 5:30 P.M. in the Chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11:30 P.M., Saturday March 5, 2011 at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77381. Burial will follow in Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
