

Richard was born on July 14, 1948, in Dothan, Alabama. He then moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where he graduated from Dreher High School, later attending some college courses.
Richard served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1/31/67 to 1/30/73, plus two years inactive Reserve, receiving top awards as a Rifleman at Camp LeJeune, N.C. In the late ’70s, he moved to Houston, Texas, expanding his working knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry, then later became CEO of Synergy Fluids, Inc.
In 1985, he met Regina (Martinsen) Dick, his wife and soulmate, for 37 years. Soon after, they moved to Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, and spent some of his most memorable years there building a family and wonderful life. They moved back to Texas, deciding to settle in The Woodlands, Texas, in 1991. After working briefly as a commercial Real Estate Broker, he purchased the company Tejas Instruments, Inc, which was later dissolved. For the rest of his subsequent years, he worked as a broker/trader in the international oil and gas industry ending as CEO of Texas Oil & Commodities, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Dick; stepson, Harlan Hock Jr. (45); daughter, Britney Burks (36); and sons, Karson (31) and Cameron (23). Also, a son, Alex Kibbodeaux, from a previous marriage. He had five grandchildren, Kaden, Rylee, Jaxon, Jed, and Jolene. He is also survived by his sister, Jeannie Osborne of Columbia, SC; and brother-in-law, Glen Osborne.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, John Dick; and mother, Leona Dick.
Richard was a loving father who spent all his free time watching his kids play sports, teaching them the most valuable life lessons, entertaining friends and family with larger-than-life humor and amusing life stories, traveling, and making even the most mundane activities absolutely magical. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family any chance he could.
Richard had a lot of friends he cherished, numerous close friends that he’d had most of his life and always managed to keep in touch. He had an everlasting impact on all those who knew him, including business associates, cherished friends, grandkids, and especially his children. He had an affinity for the finer things in life and made sure they all understood the importance of hard work and perseverance.
A memorial service with military honors and reception will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at WoodsEdge Community Church (25333 Gosling Rd. Spring, TX 77389 at the Pavilion) at 10:00 am. A committal service will follow at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the city he and his wife Regina spent most of their married life together with their beloved children.
