Robert Kenneth Rouse, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in Spring, Texas. Ken was born on July 10, 1946 in Houston, Texas, to parents James Buford Rouse and Anna Marie Christ. Ken graduated in 1964 from Dangerfield High School and was a star football player and received a scholarship to play at Texarkana University for one year. He then moved on to the University of Houston and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Ken worked with the railroad for over 41 years and through those years he ended his career as Senior Project Manager for Union Pacific Railroad.
Ken was a loving, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who loved to fish in his spare time and hunt deer every November. He was a lover of Kung Fu and martial arts movies, was the master chef of all the family bar-b-que’s and was known for his crawfish boils and shrimp dip. Ken was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, loved to travel, go to the movies and was a frequent popcorn connoisseur. Ken loved the spicy things in life so much so family would often say he burned off his taste buds from eating so much spicy salsa.
Ken met Janet at Dance Town USA where they danced to their favorite country music and began their courtship. They were married on July 5, 1975 at Zion Lutheran Church.
Ken is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Janet, two brothers and their wives (Ron and Doris Rouse, and John and Bea Rouse) two loving children (James Rouse, and Dana Rouse), two granddaughters (Samantha Rouse and Hailey Rouse), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James Buford Rouse and Anna Marie Christ.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Forest Park The Woodlands.
Funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm at April Sound Church followed by the burial at Forest Park The Woodlands. A reception will follow at the home of the deceased hosted by the family and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Ken’s Life.
