Born on March 13, 1942 in Otwell, Indiana, Roger lived a life defined by service, enterprise, and a deep commitment to those around him.
Roger began his professional journey as the owner of Electrotech, where he demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial drive. Later in life, he transitioned into the healthcare industry as the owner-operator of long-term care facilities in Southern Indiana. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the communities he served until his retirement.
He proudly served in the United States Army as a Radio Repair Technician, stationed in Germany. During this time he was awarded the Sharp Shooter and Good Conduct medal. He was honorably discharged in 1963. A lifetime member of the American Legion. His military service instilled values of discipline and perseverance that guided him throughout his life.
Roger had a curious mind and a passion for learning. He was an avid reader, enjoyed trading stocks and listening to music. One of his greatest pleasures was traveling across the country in his motor home, embracing the freedom of the open road and exploring new destinations.
Family held a special place in Roger’s heart. Affectionately known as “Pap” or “Pappy” by his grandchildren, he treasured every moment spent with them. These visits were among his most cherished experiences.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Suzy (Atwood), children Libby (Tony) Sands, Jimmy (Mona) Russell and Mandy (Scott) Smith. Twenty Three Grand and Great-Grandchildren, and brother Lindy Russell.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Spencer D. Russell and Rosa V. Russell. Siblings Noel, Eddie, Harold, Loyal (Cotton), Delmas, Oleva, Opal,Joyce and Diana.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 12:00 PM and the burial service at 1:00 PM at Forest Park – The Woodlands Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands TX 77384. A reception will follow.
