

Born on October 31, 1991 in Angeles City, Philippines, to parents Rowen and Madonna Lapid, Ronnel immigrated to the United States at a young age. When immigrating to the US, he resided in Southern California, which began his love for all things Los Angeles.
Eventually, the family settled in Texas. Ronnel spent the majority of his childhood in The Woodlands, Texas, graduating from The Woodlands College Park High School in June 2010. After high school, Ronnel attended UT-Austin for two years before transferring to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. There, he graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in May 2016.
His professional career began in Dallas, TX, where he was a Registered Nurse at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) and worked there for four years. During his time at BUMC, Ronnel was a recipient of the Service Excellence award. Prior to his passing, Ronnel recently moved back to Houston, TX to be closer to his family and accepted a position working in the ICU for Houston Methodist Hospital.
Ronnel was an avid runner, competing in many marathons across several states. He enjoyed traveling, where he was able to go hiking and backpacking through many US National Parks. His most recent hobby was taking photos of wild animals. Ronnel’s greatest love was watching and playing basketball. He was Kobe Bryant’s greatest fan and a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan. He was also an avid fan of Pokemon, Star Wars and Harry Potter.
His friends and family will always remember him as a charismatic, loving person. His coworkers described him as a hard worker, a team player who brought light into any room with his smile and a compassionate nurse who will be greatly missed.
Ronnel is survived by his parents; his sister, Dianne Davis and brother in law, Josh Davis; his brother, Rodell Lapid; his cat, Binx.
Ronnel is preceded in death by his Uncle Choy, Auntie Wilma, Grandpa Domingo, Grandma Fely, Grandpa Jeff and Auntie Baby.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 31 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 7801 Bay Branch Dr, The Woodlands, Texas. Burial will be private.
