Rosemary Anderson Nachman was born August 4, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of John Adams Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Anderson. She was raised in Toledo and attended Thomas A. Devilbiss High School.
After graduating from High School, Rosemary Anderson attended Arlington Hall Junior College, a private girls school in Arlington, VA.
While at Arlington Hall she and her classmates experienced the frightening prospect and also the excitement of being told to pack their things and get ready to go home after the teachers heard the famous Orson Well's 1938 radio program warning that the Martians were invading Earth!
During WWII the Army took over the entire Arlington Hall campus for use by the Signal Corps. It was here where they broke the Japanese code during WWII. Rosemary and her fellow alumnae were allowed to return to Arlington Hall for one last reunion.
After attending Arlington Hall for one year Rosemary transferred to the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio to complete her education, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in June of 1942. At the University of Toledo she was a member of Kappa Pi Epsilon Sorority. She met Joe Nachman at the University in 1940 and married Ensign Joseph F. Nachman at the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, MD on May 4, 1943.
Their first son, Richard Joseph Nachman, was born in the District of Columbia while her husband was serving in the Navy during WWII and was stationed at the Ordnance Investigation Laboratory near Indian Head, MD.
After the war, Rosemary and her family lived in Silver Spring, MD where her husband Joe was employed at the U.S. Naval Ordnance Laboratory. Their second son, Ronald James, was born during this time in Takoma Park, MD. Rosemary and her family lived in Canoga Park, CA; Denver, CO and 34 years in San Diego, CA. Their final residence was in The Woodlands, TX.
While living in Denver, CO Rosemary received her Masters Degree in Library Science at the University of Denver in June, 1961. Having always enjoyed reading she found this to be the most rewarding of professions to be in. She worked as a Children's Librarian in Denver and San Diego.
Rosemary and Joe both enjoyed traveling, visiting 44 countries and all seven Continents. Photography, Genealogy plus an interest in the peoples of the world and their cultures made their travels very rewarding. Her travels in conjunction with her interest in Genealogy took her to Ireland, Scotland and Norway where some of her ancestor's originally came from.
Rosemary's and Joe's lives have been blessed with their two sons, and two grandsons, the 'light of their lives'. She is survived by her husband Joseph F. Nachman, sons Richard J. Nachman and Ronald J. Nachman, and two grandsons Russell J. Nachman and Kirk L. Nachman.
Rosemary will be interred, together with her husband in Forest Park The Woodlands, TX. She and her husband have been longtime members of the Methodist Church.
