Please join us in celebrating the life of a great man. Rudolph Benz (Oji) Ogwago was 70 years old. He passed away peacefully at his home in Houston, Texas, on November 30th, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. A loving and doting husband, father, and grandfather, he was born on September 29th, 1950 in Kanam "A" Kowour Sub-Location, Karachuonyo Constituency, Kenya. He was the oldest of 9 siblings.
Oji attended Alara primary school and Mirogi boys secondary school in his formative years before proceeding to Upper Hill high school. Shortly after graduating from high school, he met and fell in love with Margaret Jossina Adhiambo. They got married in 1976, and together they raised two beautiful children, Jacky and Alfred. While in the United States, he continued his education and graduated from Texas State University with a master’s degree in Business Administration.
Preceded in death by his loving parents the late Mr. Alfred Ogwago Opiyo and the late Mrs. Annah Anyango Ogwago, as well as his two siblings, the late Mr. Maurice Otieno and the late Ms. Margaret Onditi, Oji is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Margaret Ogwago, and children: Jacqueline Akinyi Mark and Alfred Opiyo Ogwago, Grandchildren: Jossina Akinyi Mark, Jelani Kefa Mark, and Jimiyu Otieno Mark, Son-in-Law: Jude Anthony Mark, Siblings: Matthews, Florence, Leo, Jane, Imelda, and Tom.
Known simply "Ganga" by his grandchildren, Oji was a God-fearing individual, a preacher for peace at every opportunity, and a devout Catholic who at one point was destined for priesthood and attended Rakwaro seminary to pursue this dream. He was a modest and generous man to a fault. Many are those whom he sheltered in their hour of need and enabled to complete their education and careers by paying for their expenses! He was a rare combination of someone who loved all, held no grudges and had a firm understanding of what was important. His dry humor delivered in an emotionless face, his smile, his pranks, his love will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him most. We take consolation in the good feelings of our memories with Rudolf!
Family and Friends are invited to attend a virtual prayer service on Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 at 2PM via Facebook Live. There will be a graveside Service at his home in Kanam "A" Kowuor Sub-Location, Karachuonyo Constituency, Kenya on Thursday, 24th December 2020.
