Ruth was born on 10 April 1931 in Aguilar, Colorado, to Rev. Paul V. Jones and Pauline A. (Crews) Jones. She graduated from Colorado State Teachers' College (later part of the Colorado State University system) in 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school for a number of years in several states, including in a one-room schoolhouse in International Falls, Minnesota.
She was an expert seamstress, gourmet cook, and avid pianist. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, selfless and creative person.
Ruth is survived by two daughters: Sarah (Udwary) Nuñez (husband, Roland) of Bristow, Virginia, and Heidi Udwary of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandsons: Joseph Nuñez (wife, Brianna) of Colorado Springs, Nathan Nuñez of Spring, Texas, Jesse Nuñez of Bristow, Virginia, Emmanuel Nuñez of Pasadena, Texas, and Christian Nuñez, also of Bristow; brother David Jones, brother Howard Jones (wife Shirley), and sister, Esther Ann (Jones) Martinez; five nieces and nephews, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Phil Jones, and nephew Greg Jones.
A funeral service for Ruth will be held Saturday, 14 November 2020 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park - The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas, with visitation before and after the service. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Loveland, Colorado, with graveside service planned for early December. Ruth's nephew Dr. Paul Martinez will officiate at both services.
