Ruth Ann, who was always known as "Ann" to family and friends, was born on February 3, 1947 in Freeport, Texas to parents Lolan Lynn (L.L.) Earle and Susie Marie Stanford. Ann graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas in 1965. Shortly after graduation, on June 25, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Paul Wakefield, and the happy couple soon added 4 amazing children to their family. Ann thoroughly enjoyed raising her children and was a loving and committed wife and mother.
Ann continued her studies at the University of Houston before launching into a very successful career in Human Resources. Her career spanned 25 years and took her to Ben Taub Hospital, Texas Instruments, the Houston Chronicle and Noram Drilling Company. Ann retired approximately 23 years ago. Ann also excelled at her many hobbies including sewing, quilting, flower gardening, painting, and decorating. She was always a busy, creative and talented woman!
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, L.L. and Susie Marie Earle. She is survived by her adoring husband, Jimmie Paul Wakefield; her brother and sister-in law, David and Edith Ann Earle, of Athens Texas; her sister and brother-in-law, Karen "Kay" and Jerry Neff, of Nederland, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Randal and Kim Wakefield, of Acworth, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Niki Wakefield, of Conroe, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sheree Wakefield, of Prescott Valley, Arizona; and daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and Michael Johnson, of Texas. Ann is also survived by her beloved 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Ann was a bright light in this world who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
All services for Ann will take place at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384 on Sunday, September 17, 2023. The Wakefield family invites you to join them for a visitation/reception for Ann from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm to be followed by a funeral service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Burial will occur from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
