From her Loving husband, Calvin,
"We gave each other a good and Happy Life."
My darling Sallie was born in Latexo, Texas on June 24, 1946. Latex is a small town six miles north of Crockett, Texas. After her first year of school in Latexo the family moved to Houston, Texas. She and I were introduced to each other on June 27, 1963. Seven months later we got married on January 25, 1964. A very happy and loving marriage of 60 years and 10 months. I was attracted to her beauty at first sight. But in time I realized that her real beauty was her goodness.
Sallie was simply a very good person. We had two children, a son Calvin Charles and a daughter Vickie Lynn. Sallie's work and love was raising the kids and being a housewife. She read books alot, mostly biographies. Our entire Life was doing things together. She enjoyed our family vacations in the Texas Hill country, Arkansas Ozarks, Smokey Mountains and Florida. Playing softball with family and friends with no one keeping score. We rode dirt bike motorcycles, mostly in the Sam Houston National Forest.
We had a weekend place in Madison County, Texas. Sallie and I, along with the kids, spent many weekends there. The kids eventually grew up and spent less time there, so it was many times just her and I.
We loved each other very much. I will miss her dearly, more dearly than the spoken word can tell.
To my mother from your daughter,
You lit up even the darkest room with your beautiful smile. Your beauty was not only on the outside but the inside as well. Your incredible ability to make everyone that entered your house feel right at home.
I want to thank you for the support you gave me my entire life. Showing up to all of my soccer games and my track and cross country meets. Several times even having to travel hours away just to watch me.
You were there when I took my first breath and it was an honor to have been there when you took your last.
Sleep well, mom.
To my mother from your son,
My mom was always smiling and adventurous. She loved to laugh and spend time with family at our many gatherings over the years. She was a loving wife and mother first and foremost and her family was everything to her. I will always remember the love, dedication, and support she provided me throughout my childhood and adult years. I will miss her dearly.
From your loving son.
Sallie had a passion for reading and enjoyed raising her children.
