

Scott Raymond Burkhardt, 60, of Grand Island, NE, passed away on July 18, 2024, peacefully in his sleep. Born on July 12, 1964, Scott was the beloved youngest son of Bruno and Julia Burkhardt. A proud graduate of Grand Island High School, he was a standout player on the 1978 Championship football team, a testament to his athletic spirit and team dedication.
Scott's passions extended far beyond the gridiron. He found joy in cooking, gardening, relished the camaraderie of coaching his daughters softball teams, and cherished the moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and his loyal dogs. His warmth and generosity touched everyone around him, making him a beloved figure in his community and family.
In his later years, Scott faced the profound loss of his wife of 22 years, Barbara Jean Burkhardt. In the wake of her passing, he found comfort and solace living with his cherished daughter, Heather, and her family in Texas. His strength and resilience during this challenging time were a testament to his enduring love and commitment to his family.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Julia Burkhardt; his sisters, Debbie Price and Vickie Sanchez; and his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Burkhardt. He is survived by his children: Heather (Sergio) Rocha, Courtney (Steven) Slawiak, Nicole Burkhardt, Shane Black, and Samuel Petersen. His legacy will also be carried forward by his grandchildren: Theodore, Eleanor, Odette, Sophia, Mason, Emma, and Charlie.
Scott is also survived by his brothers, Jim Burkhardt and Randy Burkhardt, numerous nieces and nephews and his dear Aunt Sharon Hird. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the love he shared and the lives he touched.
A memorial service celebrating Scott’s life will be held in Wenatchee, WA, with a date to be determined.
Scott Raymond Burkhardt will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. He will be missed dearly, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
