Born on January 8, 1940, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Sharon was the daughter of the late Leonard and Maxine Lowe. Her life was a testament to love, family, and service.
Sharon is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Jim Thatcher. Together, they built a beautiful life with a large, loving family. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Franco, and her husband Joe.
Her legacy lives on through her five children and their spouses: Mike and Michele, Greg and Denise, Steve and Erin, Michelle, and Jennifer and Trey. She was a cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren and extremely proud great-grandmother to 3 great grandchildren.
Sharon dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family as they moved across the country, living in Cincinnati, Ohio; Palatine and Naperville, Illinois; Houston, Texas; Edwardsville, Illinois; Mandeville, Louisiana; and Orange County, California, before spending the last 30 years in The Woodlands, Texas. With all the moves, Sharon adeptly managed the daily demands of her growing family and supported Jim’s 30-year career with Shell Oil Company.
A woman of great faith, Sharon found joy in volunteering for her various churches over the years. She generously shared her time and her talent for cooking and engaging with people, notably as a dedicated volunteer both planning and directing Salvation army meals, multiple bazaars and cookbook publishing.
She had a passion for cooking and travel and especially enjoying the many ocean cruises she took with Jim, creating cherished memories exploring the world.
Sharon’s kindness, her loving spirit and her unwavering devotion to her family and faith will be profoundly missed by all her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church in The Woodlands on November 21 at 3:00 pm to honor her life and legacy.
