She attended school in Roundtop, Texas before her family moved to Houston, Texas where she attended Roosevelt School. She held many jobs including working at Clayton’s Grocery Store, the Greyhound Bus Station, and the Harris County Courthouse as a PBX operator.
She married Jimmy Copeland on November 12, 1961, and they had two daughters, Rita and Kim. Her family always came first, and she became a stay home mom. She was very active in both girl’s schools, activities, and loved opening her home to all their friends.
In 1978 she and her husband, Jimmy, opened their first car dealership in Navasota, Texas before opening two more dealerships in Tomball, Texas. They sold their dealerships in 2004 and enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing dominoes with their grandchildren, gambling, and spending time with family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Copeland, her parents Atlan Frank Keilers and Lillian Mae Keilers, her brother-in-law Bill Clemans, and her step daughter Cathy Copeland Relf.
Shirley is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Rita and Larry Hejl and Kim and Ronald Liston, grandchildren Amanda and husband Jared Nuss, Jared Hejl, Madison and husband Ivan Gomes, Makenzie Liston, Crystal Relf, and great-grandchildren Everly Nuss and Adaline Janette Nuss (named after her Great Granny)
She is also survived by her sister Pearley Clemans, brother Allen and his wife Ann Keilers, brother Wendell and his wife Johnnie Keilers and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service for Shirley Janet Keilers Copeland will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, The Woodlands, Texas on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10:30am with Rev. Debbie Daigle officiating.
Public visitation will start at 9:30am prior to service.
Interment will follow the service at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
There will be a reception at Forest Park the Woodlands Funeral Home following interment.
