Shirley will always be an inspiration to me.  I met her at church and we enjoyed our bible studies together.  The first person I called when I found out I had cancer because I needed her strength and her encouragement.  God Bless her She will be dearly missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Shirley while she participated and graduated from the Livestrong program at the YMCA.  She always had a smile on her face and kind words on her lips, even in the midst of her trials.  She made our group fun, especially on party days! I was sad to learn of her passing today.  May God give you peace and may her memory burn bright in your hearts forever.

I was five years old when my family moved next door to the Kincaids in Griffing Park in Port Arthur.  That was 54 years ago.  Shirley, and Susie Shepherd, who lived across the street, and I became instant and constant friends.  Shirley played the flute in the band so I played flute, too.  Shirley taught me how to water ski at Lake Ivanhoe.  I was a bridesmaid in her wedding.  We each had one son.  Although there were periods of time when we got busy with our lives we never forgot each other.  Shirley and I reconnected after she and Edward moved to The Woodlands which made it easier for us to see each other.  After her diagnosis, it was even more important for us to see each other.  We would go to lunch and talk about all of the good times we had growing up on Woodrow Drive.  I loved making Shirley laugh and whether we were in a shopping mall, or Olde Town Spring, or on The Strand in Galveston, we were laughing and having fun.  I loved reconnecting Shirley with our friend Susie and with another neighborhood friend Noni.  Shirley had so wanted for all of us to get together one more time.  Shirley and I also shared the love of Southern Gospel Music and I loved taking her to see some of the best  The Collingsworth Family, Triumphant Quartet, and The Talleys just to name a few.  We already had plans to see The Booth Brothers in August.  Selfishly, I want my friend here on Earth but I know God needed her more in Heaven.  I miss you Girl and I will never, ever forget you!

A year ago Shirley knocked on my door to welcome me to the neighborhood. I was soooo blessed to become her friend. Shirley showed me around and
reached out to me and became one of my best neighbors I could ever have. Ed and Shirley became like my family and I witnessed a lady who touched lives and was the example of Christ,.  I watched Shirley reach out to Miss Bea our 90 year young little neighbor many many times Shirley was taking
care of Bea.  Shirley was about others...One day she pulled up in my driveway and said God healed me and I said "Girl Yes you are healed and I'm doing the Happy Dance right here in the driveway.  Shirley is healed and
in Heaven and Really doing the Happy Dance with her Lord Jesus.  I watched my friend live every day with faith and courage. My life is changed
because I met Shirley and had her for one full awesome year.  My heart and

Shirley always had such a positive attitude and her favorite saying "Gods got this" - I will miss her and her captivating laugh.

Ed and Family, Shirley was a true blessing and inspiration to us all. She showed us all how to be strong both physically and spiritually.

I never knew Shirley personally but feel like I did through the many conversations I had about her with my friend Carolyn Kincaid, Shirley's first cousin.  Shirley's life was an inspiration to all who knew her.  May she now find peace and may her family and friends find joy in the lifetime of memories they shared with her.  As Carolyn has said, "Heaven has another Angel."

She was a very kind and sweet lady. It was a blessing to have known her.

I have such wonderful memories of hanging out with Shirley & the neighborhood gang in our junior high and high school years.  Special memory:  my mom taking Shirley and I to see the Monkees.  I'll never forget you, Shirley, and all the good times. My family, the Painters, send their condolences.

Shirley was a special friend we got to know in our Precious Moments club. She was always smiling and cheerful; very organized. Shirley had a very positive outlook on life; her faith shone through all the time. We will miss her. May God bring comfort and peace of mind to all her family and friends.

Growing up we always had a home to stay at if we needed to and a mom there waiting when we came home late to make sure that we were safe. She always saw the beauty in things and never the bad. My heart is heavy on this day, she will be greatly missed.

She was mom to all of us and always will be. You are an amazing person and will be missed.

Shirley was a special person and fought valiantly. I hope that there will be moments of laughter among the tears as she is remembered.
