Obituary of Sidney Lynn Sandiford
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery

Sidney Lynn Sandiford, 79, of The Woodlands, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He was born in Houston on June 6,1946 to Joseph and Gladys Sandiford. Sid attended the Houston Police Academy and upon graduation joined the Houston Police Department on June 2, 1969. Sid served with the Houston Police Department for 33 years retiring on January 17, 2003. During this time, he was accepted into the diaconate program and ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church on May 9, 1987. He served the parishioners of Sts. Simon and Jude for 26 years. Deacon Sid led a life of service dedicated to his parish.

Sid met Lynne, the love of his life, while at The University of St. Thomas through mutual friends. They were married at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on May 17,1970. They were blessed with two daughters, and four grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who was always cooking the most delicious meals for his family. Sid loved road trips with his family. New Orleans and San Antonio were some of his favorite places to visit. A perfect day would be walking around, eating, looking at the older buildings, and of course listening to his treasured music, Dixieland jazz.

Sid is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynne Anne Sandiford (nee McLaughlin), his two daughters, Stacey Lynne Murchison and husband Bear Murchison, Heather Lynne Forman and her husband Sean Forman, four grandchildren, William Murchison, Abby Murchison, Hannah Forman, and Avery Forman, his brothers Arthur Sandiford and wife Missy Sandiford, Ernie Sandiford and wife Pam, and Eddie Sandiford.

The funeral mass to celebrate the life of Sidney Sandiford will be held on October 10, 2025 at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church at 2:00pm. His family ask that you wear the colors of Mardi Gras, his favorite time of year.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Sidney Sandiford’s memory to the following organizations:
