

Born December 9, 1922 in McMechen, WV, the only child of the late Della Trusell McCombs and Spencer McCombs, Sr.
McCombs was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Eileen Rogerson McCombs, their daughter Barbara (Robert) Oravec of Branford, CT and their son David James McCombs of Steubenville, OH. He was also preceded in death by wives, Kathleen Eiler McCombs and Elizabeth Wheeler McCombs.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason, having attained the high honor of being a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite, Wheeling. He was also a member of the Legion of Honor of the Osiris Shrine, Wheeling as well as the El Tor Grotto, Elm Grove. A lifelong member of The First Christian Church, McMechen, McCombs had served as an Elder for nearly 30 years. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He continued to honor his country as a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as one-time McMechen Post Commander and held various state and local roles in the organization. He had also been an active member of the American Legion, Benwood.
McCombs is survived by his son Brent (Karen) McCombs of The Woodlands, TX as well as granddaughters Paige Murphy and Hope Spencer McCombs of The Woodlands, TX and granddaughter Jennifer Renee McCombs and grandson Christopher David McCombs of Ada, OH. In addition, he is survived by eight stepchildren as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Private burial will be held at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard, West Virginia.
