Steve was born May 2, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Skokie, IL by his cherished
mother and father Evelyn Green Natenberg and Philip Lewis Natenberg. He was preceded in death not only by his parents but by his sister Sharon and her husband Steve Eaton. Steve was married for 48 years to Sharon Haimes Natenberg and they raised three wonderful children David Natenberg and wife Ellie, Michael Natenberg and wife Cara, and Ellen Thompson and husband Ryan. Steve's great delight was his four granddaughters, Laila, Mia, Sybil, and Parker who knew him as Papa. The whole family is saddened that he will not meet his soon-to-be-born grandson.
Steve and Sharon met at Purdue University where Steve earned a BS in Industrial
Management. He continued his education with an MBA from DePaul University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa. He worked for Shell Oil Company for 32 1/2 years. He always loved his jobs at Shell starting with sales in Chicago, moving to Tulsa as a manager in the credit card center, and earning a position as an in-house lawyer from 1982 to his early retirement in 2005. He then was an adjunct professor in the Bauer College of Business of the University of Houston for 10 years. He was an enthusiastic supporter of all his children's endeavors which included coaching his sons in baseball and his daughter in softball. He was cheering at basketball games, swim meets, ultimate frisbee tournaments, Ironman competitions, and a Tough Mudder. He was just getting excited about watching all his granddaughters' school and sporting events. Steve had many friends not only from Shell but from high school, college, the neighborhood and his temple. He rarely met someone who he didn't befriend. His newest passion was pickleball.
During his retirement, he and Sharon travelled to many exotic places but he mostly just
enjoyed his travel companions, his sister Gwen and her husband Howard Cooper and the
"Tribe", a group of close college friends. His advice was always sound and his opinions fair.
