Ken was born Aug. 23, 1949, to T.C. and Kathleen Bowers, and was raised in Edcouch, Texas. Ken graduated from Texas A&M University in 1975 with a degree in Building Construction and worked in the field for nearly 50 years. He met his wife, Beverly, while in High School and they were married in 1969. They made their home in Kingwood, Texas for over 30 years before recently moving to The Woodlands, Texas.
Ken had an irresistible sense of humor and a deep devotion to family. Following his retirement, he focused on taking care of his beloved wife as she dealt with Parkinson’s related health challenges. He treasured time with his grandchildren, regularly playing on the floor with them (as long as they agreed to help Papaw up) and rocking them to sleep since he could get a nap in as well. He enjoyed reading Western novels and was constantly tinkering or building things in their garage. Ken was “Texas” to his heart with a love of HEB, Whataburger, and Texas BBQ. Additionally, he was a loyal Aggie supporter and enjoyed watching games.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Haven (Brad) Pearson, daughter Jinna (Doug) Danser, grandson Dane Danser, granddaughters Campbell and Sydney Pearson, sister Lynda (Tom) Curl, brother Rodney Bowers, a niece and three nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 13 at 3:00 PM at Covenant Methodist Church, 8555 Creekside Green Drive in The Woodlands, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to the Houston Area Parkinson Society (haps.org)
