February 15, 1945 – June 29, 2025
Thomas Jay Clements, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 29, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, at the age of 80, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A reception will follow from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
Tom was born on February 15, 1945, and raised in Detroit, Michigan, in a Catholic household that instilled in him strong values of faith, discipline, and service—principles that shaped the way he lived and loved. He went on to attend Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and met the love of his life, Jane, during a shared ride home for their mothers’ birthdays. That fateful trip led to a lifelong partnership filled with love and adventure.
In 1975, Tom and Jane moved to what was then the early development of The Woodlands, Texas. They often joked that they were “settlers” — arriving before most of the roads, stores and restaurants, ready to stake their claim in a town that would become home for the next five decades.
Jane, his beloved wife of 52 years, preceded him in death in 2019. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Thomas Clements IV and his wife Karen, Kimberly Boyd and her husband Bradley, and Brian Clements and his wife Keri.
Tom was a proud and devoted grandfather to Preston Shadle, Thomas Clements V, William Clements, Emily Clements, Ashley Boyd, Jackson Boyd, Katelyn Clements, Ella Clements, and Adelyn Clements, and great grandfather to Beau Shadle. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Greg and Herb.
Tom built a successful career in sales, known for his integrity, determination, and ability to connect with people. He retired at the age of 57, allowing him to fully enjoy his many hobbies including golf, fly fishing, photography, shooting pool, spending time at the gun range, playing poker with friends, and sharing a good glass of wine. He was a planner by nature, always dreaming up the next family trip or gathering. He was a loyal friend, a caring mentor, and was fiercely devoted to his family and those he loved.
Tom took great pride in his family, in his country, and in the life he built. He often described himself as “a lucky guy,” and anyone who knew him would say the same — that they were lucky to know him. His presence was steady, his sense of humor delightful, and his love for life unmistakable.
In his own words, he asked that we shed a tear if we must but also smile, laugh, and raise a glass in celebration of a life richly lived.
