How do you summarize a friendship that lasted more than six decades? Stan and I met Abbie soon after Stan began work at Humble Pipe Line in 1947. Later we met Tom after he and Abbie were dating and then married.

Stan remembers getting dental work done when Tom was finishing work at the dental college. After Tom would drill a tooth, he and Stan would go downstairs and buy the filling ($2.) Tom purchased a red convertible so he could deliver the morning newspaper to earn extra cash while in school.

The memories flow on: water skiing behind Wee Baby on Clear Lake, Lake Travis, and Lake Conroe, golf rounds at Champions and April Sound, visits to the farm, lots of trips to the office on Long Point for dental work, and Tom's patience with my fear when he extracted my wisdom teeth.

Other memories surround wonderful meals at Vernon's Kountry Katfish, April Sound Marina, The Olive Garden, Steak & Ale, Outback, and a steak house in Conroe with peanut hulls on the floor.

Stan and I cherish all the wonderful memories our families created together, and we had a ton of fun along the way.

Farewell and much love, Tom. Vaya con Dios.

Sincere condolences to Abby and children in the death of this wonderful man. I was broke and he accepted me as a patient in 1952 when he was in dental school. He continued to be my dentist for the next 37 years and became a friend like none other. He was highly skilled, a man of integrity, completely honest, had wonderful humor, and was a tireless worker. My, how he loved Abby and the children. Rest in peace, dear friend.
