

He was born in Port Arthur, Texas in October, 1940, graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1959 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Lamar University.
He married Patricia Ann Lowrey on November 18, 1960.
After being the Band Director at Woodville High School for a year, he went to work for B.F. Goodrich in Orange, Texas and completed the educational requirements to be a Safety and Health Engineer. Eventually, he was transferred to Woodbury, New Jersey for 2 years, then Medina, Ohio for 3 years. At that point, desiring to return to Texas, he accepted the position of Head of Safety for Pennzoil in Houston, Texas and worked there until his retirement from the corporate world in 1993. In 1995, he purchased Southwest Pool Management, Inc. and served as President until his retirement in 2020.
Bart had a passion for fishing and target shooting. He was the 5 time pistol champion of the Tomball gun club. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and reading western novels.
He received a number of awards for contributions in corporate safety and was instrumental in writing many of the OSHA safety statutes that are in use today.
He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Shriners, and was involved in many service projects during his younger years.
Bart was preceded in death by his father, Troy Barton Johnson, and mother, Margarette Lela Wainright Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Johnson, his son Jayson (Kelly) Johnson, his daughter Sherry (David) Pickert, his grandson Weston (Peytan) Johnson, his granddaughters Jaclynn (Joseph) Zimowski, Sabrina Pickert, Angela Pickert, his great grandsons Jackson Johnson, Landon Zimowski, Luke Zimowski, his great granddaughter Leighton Zimowski, sister-in-law Pam (Terry) Hahn, nephew Trevor (Jamie) Latiolais, and niece Kindell (Adam) Lopez and children.
