Waleska Elizabeth Harvey of The Woodlands, Texas was called home by Our Heavenly Father on August 31, 2023. In April, she turned 54 years of age - her time here much shorter than she had hoped. Waleska was born on April 13, 1969 in Danlí, El Paraíso, Honduras, the youngest of three sisters born to parents Ramon Rene Ordóñez and Elizabeth Giannini.
Waleska enjoyed a very happy life with her loving husband Gary by her side. The couple married on July 25, 1994 and spent 29 wonderful years together. From the start of their love story, Waleskas' kind-hearted, generous spirit was apparent. Her warmth in her heart shone through to everyone she met. Waleska was well received by Gary’s many relatives, and she looked forward to all the family gatherings. She thrived on entertaining in her home and making her home a welcoming place for family and friends. Her supportive and loving attitude was a big part of her successful marriage and her strong relationships.
Waleska worked hard and continually strived to improve herself. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Nacional Autónoma De Honduras (UHAH). Upon graduating, she started her career with one of the largest banking and insurance companies in Central and South America, Seguros Atlántida S.A., as Manager of the Commercial Risk Group. She continued her education and obtained her Master's Degree in Business Administration from LeTourneau University in Texas. After coming to the U.S., the teaching profession found Waleska, and she began one of the major highlights of her working life as an Early Childhood Bilingual Teacher. She was a caring and nurturing educator who shared her loving kindness with all of her students. She was a marvelous teacher who experienced a great deal of gratification seeing her young students' progress throughout the school year. She worked as a teacher for Houston ISD and Fort Worth ISD for a total of 24 years and was awarded Teacher of the Year (Fort Worth ISD), a distinction she was honored to have received as it represented her success and the high regard in which her peers held her. Waleska was also a model who enjoyed participating in the fashion world. Waleska always worked to improve and expand her abilities, and she completed numerous achievements. She worked incredibly hard in so many areas of her life: education, career, modeling, fitness, and even her fight against cancer. Her dedication was truly inspiring.
Waleska's playful and fun-loving nature will be as hard to forget as her caring and compassionate spirit. Waleska carried her love of her family and many wonderful friends along the path of her life. She was easy to like with an infectious signature smile and personality that expressed her warmth toward people. She was spontaneous and loved adventure and travel. Her life may have been short in time, but in those years her personality touched so many. The only thing more important than her family and friends was her spiritual belief in God. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Waleska is survived by her adoring husband, Gary Harvey; her two sisters, Leticia Scarlet Ordóñez Giannini and Samai Widad Ordóñez Giannini; her niece and nephews, Scarlet Gilliana Galeano Ordóñez Giannini (married to Oscar Mauricio Ávila Vargas), Douglas Rene Zelaya Ordóñez, Luis Rene Vásquez Ordóñez; and godson/great-nephew and great niece, Mauricio André Ávila Galeano and Gilliana Marie Ávila Galeano.
