Warren Louis Breaux was born in New Iberia, LA. on November 18, 1963, to Louis Allen and Rose Mary LeBlanc Breaux. He was the fourth of five brothers, two of whom, as well as his parents, predecease him.
Warren attended the local schools in New Iberia, graduating in 1981 from New Iberia Senior High School, where he played football and ran track. During his Sophomore year, the football team won the Louisiana state high school football championship with a team that included Johnny Hector, who went on to play for 10 years with the NY Jets. After graduating high school, Warren attended Louisiana State University, graduating in 1985 with a degree in Accounting. Warren was a lifelong LSU Tigers fan and was thrilled to be in the stadium during the 2007 national championship season. He cheered them this year when they won their fourth national championship.
From LSU, Warren moved to Houston to begin his career as a tax accountant with Arthur Andersen. He spent the next 35 years working in public accounting, all in Houston, but for a few years living and working in London, England. After passing the CPA exam, he moved from Andersen to PricewaterhouseCoopers (legacy Coopers & Lybrand) and ended his public accounting career with Ernst & Young as an Executive Director in their International Tax Compliance group. Warren was a lecturer, presenter, and author on international taxation, including presenting at the 2018 International Tax Forum of Houston and co-author of “Doing Business with North America”. Warren was also a mentor to many. Some remembrances of his mentees include the following: “Warren was a great mentor and teacher”; to “I will always remember him as smart, funny, and meticulous (I remember the many piles of folders on his desk and he knew the contents of them all).”; to “I will never forget the joy I had working with him”; to “Brilliant Man, Respected Colleague, a friend and confidante”.
Outside of work, Warren had two passions, his son, Adam and golf. Warren was the first person after the doctors to hold Adam. He loved being a father. To him, Adam was “m’boy” – short for “my boy” and to Warren, Adam was perfect. As he could, he attended every soccer game, every track meet, every cross-country race, every school event, and every teacher conference – always cheering, “that’s m’ boy!”
Golf was a game Warren picked up in his early 20’s – a game he loved and played nearly every weekend throughout his entire life. He was a long-time member of The Woodlands Country Club and played on courses from Florida to Hawaii to Oregon to Virginia, including Pebble Beach. He once made a hole in one! Many weekends and family vacations were spent on the golf course, with Adam by his side, with every shot of Adam’s cheered and celebrated as perfect!
Warren was a Friend of Bill.
Warren is survived by Adam and his two surviving brothers, Randy and Barry, and their families. He is also survived by his friend Andrea and his former wife, Virginia. He lived a full life, was well-loved, and will be well remembered. May his memories be a blessing.
