Wayman was born on September 10, 1938, in Houston, Texas. He was the second child born to Edward and Armida “Floy” Thornton.
After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, he began his career in the oil and gas industry, working for Dixie Chemicals, Petrotex, and ARCO. He began his retirement in 1990.
Wayman married JoAnn Thornton in Houston, Texas on September 24, 1960. During their 55 year of marriage, they had three children and seven grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time watching the Astros and the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, going to the horse races, spending time with his family and lately enjoyed listening to Pastor Galen's sermon each week .
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Thornton and his brother, David Thornton.
Wayman is survived by his three children, Tim and Rebecca Thornton of Spring, Texas, Donna and Doug Wells of Spring, Texas, and Tammy and Charles Hinckley of Old Lyme, Connecticut; grandchildren Amanda and Mike Bledsoe, Erin Thornton, Kaitlyn and Zach Conerly, Heather Wallace, Hunter Wells, Charles Hinckley, and Anne-Marie Hinckley; sister, Wanda Steel.
There will be a viewing on Sunday, June 30, 2019, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019, at 10am at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 500 East Oak Hill Drive, Spring, Texas, with graveside services to follow.
Oak Ridge Baptist Church will host a luncheon for family and extended family after the graveside service.
