William "Bill" Halsell Berry, Jr.

He was born on October 5, 1946 in Houston, Texas. Bill was the devoted husband and best friend to Susan Diane Berry and proud father of his children, Timothy Parker Berry (Angela), Matthew Manning Berry (Ginny) and Kirsten Lennon Mabry (Robert). He is also survived by mother-in-law, Zelma Lennon; siblings, John Berry, Ruth Ann Wofford, Elizabeth Layton, Muriel Jernigan, David Berry, Margaret Patterson, Bridget Engle and Joseph Berry; eight young grandchildren, (Grace, Grant, Parker, Takoda, Patrick, Paige, Violet and Skyler) and dozens of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, William Halsell Berry, Sr. and mother, Muriel Manning Berry along with brothers, Cress Berry and Ted Berry.

Bill graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and then University of Texas at Dallas. He married Susan Diane Lennon, his college sweetheart, in 1971. He voluntarily joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War and served his country for four years with honor and grace. His children remember him as a loving and caring father who encouraged them to work hard, to be honest and to do the right thing regardless of the consequences. His grandkids know him as Papa, a prankster who initiated goofball fun and contagious giggles. He was a deeply loving, loyal, honest, hard-working, witty and generous man who loved his faith, family, baseball and barbecue.

Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, May 8, 2016 between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home in the Chapel, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX, 77384. A Memorial Mass is scheduled on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive, The Woodlands, TX, 77381.
