Uncle Bill,
My second Dad. Cindy and I had more fun bugging you while we grew up. I love you so much. You are part of my chosen family and I feel so blessed to have been a part of the Schaefer Clan. Like Cindy, I will always respect your love of our country and never forget the intense emotions I felt when you were able to go the anniversary of D-Day in Normandy. You were a great man from a great generation of men. You will be missed and forever In my heart.

Dad, what can I say, you were always there for me for all of my 51 years.  You were a hard working honest man.  You taught me so many things.  You always saw both sides of every story and didn't have a prejudice bone in your body.  You say everyone as equals, always treating everyone with respect, regardless of their color or economic status.  You taught me that everyone here on this Earth has a story to tell and deserves dignity.
You love of your country spilled over to me and I will always have a love for it, mostly due to you.
Thanks for always being there for me, always listening to me and always accepting me for the person that I am.
I love you so much and will miss you forever.

To Carol Schaefer:  I only met you at our high school graduation when I introduced myself and told you that our dads have been carpooling to work at Public Service for years. Please accept my condolences for your father's passing, and my father's condolences as well (Herman - passed away May 23, 2005).  I met your father a few times and he was always very friendly to me. Dear Bill,
     I will never forget our spirited political conversations. Your sense of humor always made me smile. I always loved how passionate you were about good food. The look in your eyes after you had a great meal was priceless. You served your country well but yet you were so humble. Not once have I known you to brag on your past accomplishments.. Always so modest. You were a great man Bill.. I will miss you!

You have taught me so many things in life, even the simplest thing like how to tie my shoe the correct way. I will miss you so much but I know you will always be with me. Love you grandpa

Grandpa,

Words cannot describe how much I miss you and all the things you've taught me over the years. I'll never forget our endless card games or days we would just watch old movies together and who could forget "The Claw." You loved to have a good laugh and I'm glad to spend as much time with you as I could. It brings so much joy to me to know you had a chance to meet your Great Grandson, who fell in love with you instantly. He's going to be a left-handed baseball player without a doubt!

Hard to put in words the memories you left us and your grandchildren.  You taught me the joy of playing golf......keep your head down look at the ball. I  still  hear your voice every time I hit the ball!!!  Memories of you teaching me to drive in the beige VW going down Quitman street in low gear to save money!!! Or how you loved making homemade noodles every Thanksgiving  and Christmas. The guest would leave the kitchen cleaned  by Mom, and the majic would begin with your homemade noodles, oh how the house was filled with such warmth, and smells of knowing we would sit down right  around 5:00 the next day with a bowl of homemade turkey noodle soup. Nobody did it better then you Dad. I'll never forget the smell of your woodworking room, that was you're man cave, and it was a thrill to watch you transform  wood into some beautiful pieces of art, and don't forget the special wood oil you used. 
You will be missed, I'm so glad you were able to meet Weston your great grandson. Memories of you will be passed down.

Bill was quite a character and had an exceptional love for telling jokes. My favorite is when he tried to convey the story of the three-legged dog and searching for the one who "shot my paw". The funniest part is he could hardly tell the joke without cracking up to a point to where he rarely finished it. HA!

BIll will sorely be missed for his insight and wit. He didn't show it often, but his heart was warm for his daughters, grand children and great grand children.

You were a great neighbor, friend, and like a grandpa to Kaylee. We remember sitting on your back patio, in Denver, visiting you and Joan and remember you and Kaylee eating popsicles...good memories.

Thanks for a lifetime of happy memories and joy. Because of you I have an incredibly deep appreciation for the game golf (Every time I go to swing I hear your voice telling me TempoTempo!). The joys of poker (You always telling me to never draw to an inside straight). But most of all through our talks about politics-even though we often disagreed- you thought me to let me beliefs follow my heart and gut, and above all to hold on to my conviction. Thanks for all of that, and so much more!

     I can't thank you enough for the patience and understanding
you showed my boys. They loved the card games, shooting your black powder guns (even when they didn't go off), and your sense of humor. You raised three beautiful girls, have six beautiful grandchildren, and two adorable great grand children. You will be sadly missed by all. Rest in peace!!!

Papa, 
We have shared some great times over the years. Many lessons learned and life experiences gained. Thank you for being there for me and taking interest in my hobbies. Your thoughts have always been with me, and you will be missed.

Papa, I wish how much I could explain the amount you taught me, whether it was just how to be proper in a simple game of cards or how to know when simplicity was the answer over indulgence. You have been in my thoughts for a while and I imagine that you will stay there. God Bless
