Wilmer Dee “W.D.” Crain, 85, of Conroe, Texas passed away on May 6, 2016. Dee was born on August 11, 1930 in Oil City, Louisiana and moved to Houston, Texas in 1952. Shortly after coming to Houston, Dee met and married Geraldine “Gerri” Box, whom he was married to for over 50 years. Dee retired in 1998 as President of the ILA 1351 Clerks /Checkers Union. In his early years, Dee served as a police officer in Bellaire, Texas, and as a funeral director at Heights and Earthman funeral homes. Dee later volunteered his time and talents to serve on the boards of the Montgomery County Emergency Service District # 5 (Magnolia Bend /River Plantation Fire Department) and the Montgomery County Hospital District.
Dee enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He was the consummate “jack-of-all-trades” and the master of several. Quick-witted and smart, Dee was always willing to give advice and ready to lend a helping hand. He will be dearly missed by many.
Dee was preceded in death by his wife, Gerri, and his son, Freddie Lynn. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Busa (Gilbert), and sons, Dennis Crain (D’Anne) and David Crain (Elizabeth). Grandchildren are Dr. Chase Baker, DDS (Carrie), Chance Baker (Sandy), William Crain (Wendy), Taylor Crain, Haley Crain Carter (Michael), Canon Crain, Cullen Crain and Cavan Crain. Great-grandchildren are Brynn, Barrett and Bonham Baker, Shayne and Saxton Crain, and Harper Carter.
Services for Dee will be held at Forest Park - The Woodlands Funeral Home located at 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in the Forest Park - The Woodlands Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm. A reception for family and friends will follow at the home of Haley Crain Carter.
