
Born to Eternal Life September 14, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Born on March 23, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Father Myszel entered Saint Francis Minor Seminary in 1945 and completed his priestly formation during the period of 1947-1953 at Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 30, 1953 by the Most Reverend Roman R. Atkielski, Auxiliary Bishop of Milwaukee, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Father’s priestly ministry began as an assistant at St. John Kanty Parish, Milwaukee, on June 12, 1953. He served three additional parishes as an assistant over the next 17 years: Ss. Cyril and Methodius, Milwaukee (appointed March 28, 1958); St. Alexander Parish, Milwaukee (appointed July 7 1960); and Our Lady Queen of Peace, Milwaukee (appointed November 30, 1965). On September 2, 1970, Father was appointed chaplain for St. Luke Hospital, Milwaukee. On August 24, 1971, he was appointed pastor at St. George Parish in Elkhart Lake that included serving the St. Fridolin Mission Church in Glenbeulah. He resigned his pastorate on June 15, 1976, and was released to the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida, on August 1, 1976 due to health issues. While living in Florida, Father served St. Jerome Parish in Indian Rocks Beach and Sacred Heart Parish, Punta Gorda; he retired from active ministry on March 31, 1994.
Father George was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Augusta Myszel, his siblings Rose Krzyzanowski, Helen Pace, Thecla Rewolinski, Edward Myszel, Genevieve Mostek, Casimir Myszel, Sr. Jude Myszel and Steve Myszel and his dear bird Gigi. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, parishioners and friends.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Camillian Room at San Camillo, 10200 W. Bluemound Rd., on Friday September 23 at 7 PM. Visitation will be held in the chapel from 5 PM until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Camillus appreciated
