Benjamin Reed Beard Sr., known to friends and family as "Reedy," went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on February 17, 1942, in Franklin County, Virginia, to Warren and Ethelene Beard. Reedy was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished paw paw who leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and was loved by all.
Reedy is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, who was by his side throughout his life’s journey, and their children. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa Lambeth, and her children, Selinda and Gregory Lambeth; his son, Benjamin Reed Beard Jr. and wife Jacqueline, along with their son, Tyler Beard. His brothers, Jimmy Beard and wife Donna of Hardy, VA; Herman Beard and Jan of Chicago, IL; and Dale Beard and wife Kathy of Fincastle, VA, also mourn the loss of a dear brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sheila Fay Young.
Reedy was a talented electrician and an exceptional friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His generosity, quick wit, and warm heart made him a beloved figure to everyone he encountered. His unwavering support for his family and his work ethic were traits that defined him. Whether it was offering a helping hand or a kind word, Reedy always made sure those around him felt cared for.
Reedy’s absence leaves a hole in the hearts of many, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Special thanks to Hospices of Davidson County for their wonderful care during his final days.
A visitation for Benjamin will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville, NC 27360, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
