Billy Ray Woodlief, of Thomasville, NC, age 83, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Bill was born on July 10, 1937 in Tobaccoville, NC to Charlie and Mary Brown Woodlief. He attended Hasty school and as a young child, worked the tobacco fields helping his family. As an adult, Bill was a long distance truck driver and retired from Old Dominion Freight Line.

Bill married Lottie Pope on December 19, 1954 and had one daughter, Donna Clark of Tallahassee, FL. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lottie, his second wife Ethel Russell and his brother-in-law Floyd Hedgecock. He is survived by his only child, Donna Clark, sister Ruth Hedgecock, sister Helen Miller (Furnie), sister Dianne Luck (Joe), Nephew Michael Hedgecock, Nieces Sherri Beck (Jeff), Christy Moscato (Joe), Wendy Luck (Jay Robinson), Kerry Hydari (Tim), grandnephew Justin Beck, and grandnieces Eliza and Anabeth Hydari, as well as several cousins.

Bill always loved fast cars and Harley Davidsons owning several of each during his life. His daughter will forever think of him in connection with the Beach Boys’ song “Fun, fun, fun ‘till Daddy takes the T-Bird away” a true story when she was 16. Riding fast with no helmet at age 7 on Dad’s Harley was also unforgettable.

Bill loved his dog Roxie. He would be happy to know that people who choose to do so, send any remembrance memorial donation to the Davidson County Animal Alliance – a completely volunteer organization helping animals in need and partners with Meals on Wheels program providing pet food for pets of senior citizens.
