OBITUARY

Brenda Sue Edelmann

May 11, 1944June 8, 2021

Brenda Sue Edelmann, age 77, passed away at her home on June 8, 2021. Brenda was born on May 11, 1944 to John Strickland and Helen Louise Honeycutt Strickland in Guilford County. She immediately brought joy, adventure, and laughter into our world. Brenda went on to graduate from Thomasville Senior High in 1962.

In 1982, she met Richard Edelmann and the two were inseparable from that point on. Brenda and Richard were married for 27 years. Between them, they had three children, Leslie Franklin Hughes II, Eva Coggins and Jim Siewert.

She and Richard would go on to travel the United States as a team driving Semi Trucks from the East Coast to the West Coast. They also enjoyed the moments of inconvenience and would make the most of every moment exploring. They traveled to many places but the Redwood National Forest was one of their favorites. Once the time came to retire and settle, they took up the trade of working the flea markets locally. Richard would sell his knives while Brenda took up making and selling her jewelry. This became a passion of hers over time. She eventually bought a shed to keep her crafts going. She also added other things to her craft vault such as painting, flower arrangements, and different sewn/fabric crafts. She also loved to read and shared her love of reading with her children and grandchildren.

Brenda was a 2-time cancer survivor and full of life. She was determined to live to be 100. Though her most recent battle with cancer took her eye, she believed she could still do anything, including scaring her grandchildren when she wanted to drive.

It is very difficult to try to honor Brenda with any of our words and it is never easy to capture a person in writing, as words frequently fall short of capturing their essence. Especially in this case.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.

Brenda is survived by one son, Leslie Franklin Hughes, II and wife Tonya; two sisters Pam & Debbie; four grandchildren, Casey Cranford, Donald Wingrove, Tara Ballard and Ryan Hughes; four great grandchildren Blake Boan, Carter Cranford, Penelope and Joseph Ballard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joseph Edelmann, daughter Eva Coggins, brother Ronnie Strickland and grandson Jeffrey Boan.

If you wish to send flowers, the family asks they be sent to her home at 376 Watford Road Thomasville NC 27360.

Les and Tonya , There is really nothing I can say that will ease the pain of loss, they say time heals, in reality it does not. You will learn to live with her memories, think of them often and listen to your hearts and she will be there. She is now at peace and her loved ones were waiting for her with open arms at Heavens Gate. Mom
